[Jan 11-12, 2016] The 2nd Founding Anniversary and Orientation of Future SMU leaders by Philippine Saemaul Undong

Philippine Saemaul Undong Center had successfully conducted its 2nd Founding Anniversary and Orientation of Future SMU leaders at Casa Real de Iloilo from Jan. 11 through 12 2016. More than 60 participants attended at the ceremony including Governor Athur D Defensor Sr. of the Iloilo province and the future leaders of the region.

 

“If Koreans could liberate themselves from the shackles of poverty, ilonggos could do it too”, remarked Governor Athur D. Defensor Sr. of the Iloilo province, attending the ceremony. He also expressed his vision for the development of the area, saying “we could make Saemaul Undong, the driving force behind the economic success of South Korea, our guiding model in developing rural areas”.

 

 

According to Secretary Velma Jane C. Lao from Philioppine Saemaul Undong, a new set of the board of trustees had been elected in a term of three years during the anniversary; The board members are followings: Mr. Mario Nillos (President), Mayor Matt Palabrica (Vice President), Ms. Velma Jane Lao (Secretary), Delia Gardose (Treasurer), Ms. Jezza Nepomuceno (Auditor), Levi de los Santos (Member), Alme Villamera (Member), Mary Jean Palabrica Member), Joy Palmada (Member), and Pastor Norvie Anastacio (Member). 

 

 

Philipine Saemaul Undong Center made a resolution to push ahead better programs for the local society, reorganizing the driving forces of Saemaul Undong with the newly-elected board members.
Especially, they had an orientation section, video-watching section, introducing Saemaul Undong to the villagers, as well as the briefing session on the Saemaul projects. They are now preparing to hold the planning session on Jan. 26 through 27, 2016 for setting up the project directions and the plan for the next year.
