So, Jin Kwang, president of Korea Saemaul Undong Center and Director Ryspaev Bakyt Kelgenbaevich had a meeting at the State Agency for Local Self-Government and Inter-Ethnic Relations on June 27, 2016.

At the meeting, President So stressed that “sharing the Saemaul Undong model with Kyrgyzstan has great importance as a first step for the progress but the more important works we have to keep in mind through this effort are making success stories or cases of Saemaul Undong in Kyrgyzstan.” “In this regard, I really hope both Kyrgyzstan and Korea would work together on fostering young experts, making and spreading the success cases of Saemaul Undong in Kyrgyzstan to the world.”

Director Ryspaev Bakyt Kelgenbaevich also revealed his strong ambitions on applying the Saemaul Undong model in response to the President So’s remarks, saying “I am well aware of what Saemaul Undong is and how much it contributed to the rapid economic development of Korea. In my point of view, I believe that was attributed to the diligent national traits and passion for the education of the Korean. Therefore, I would like to apply the spirit and the success experience and cases of Saemaul Undong to my country for the development.

After the meeting, President So attended the Saemaul Workshop held at the Manas village center. The workshop kicked off with the presentation of the successful implementation cases of Saemaul Undong and several events were followed : A special lecture on Saemaul Undong, a briefing session on the project evaluation, an execution of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and an awarding ceremony for outstanding Saemaul leaders.

During the Special lecture on Saemaul Undong, President So stressed the importance of fostering Saemaul model villages, understanding the way of Saemaul Undong, strengthening moral education, establishing the expanding system of Saemaul Undong.

President So is going to have a meeting with Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov of Kyrgyz Republic on June 29th, 2016, discussing the methods of implementation and support of Saemaul Undong; President So will also deliver a special lecture on Saemaul Undong to high-level government officials. After then, he is going to have a meeting with the Representative Mr. Dorjee, Kinlay of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Kyrgyzstan. On June 30th, President So will visit to the FAO model village as well as Chong Sary-Oi village in Issyk Kul Province. After having a meeting with the Governor Ashat Akibaeve of Issyk Kul Province on July 1st, he will return to Korea on July 2nd, 2016.
