President SO had a meeting with Edward Ssekandi, the Vice President of Uganda on August 19th. Park, Jong Dae, the Korean Ambassador to Uganda, and many people related to Saemaul Undong also attended the meeting. They discussed mutual cooperation of Saemaul Undong and exchanged various opinions about building up network and management plan for the invitational trainees who have already completed the Saemaul Training.
Edward Ssekandi, the vice president of Uganda said, “We also had implemented ‘Bulungi Bwansi’ which is a Community Driven Activity such as Saemaul Undong. With Saemaul Undong, I believe Uganda can achieve the goal to join the ranks of the developed countries by 2020. Also, I really appreciate that you share your experience and knowledge in community development and I hope people in Uganda improve their living standard through it.”
“Saemaul Undong is the differentiated ODA model and movement for achieving a better life through overcoming poverty. The invitational trainees who completed the Saemaul Training for Uganda play a leading role in implementing Saemaul Undong actively. I have greater expectations of Uganda Saemaul Undong Center,” President SO, Jin Kwang, described.
Park, Jong Dae, the Korean Ambassador to Uganda, explained, “When Korean president Park Geun-hye and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni met each other last May, they shared a bond of sympathy for the reform of consciousness. Since Korea Saemaul Undong Center is one of our important partners including KOICA and UNDP, the Korean Ambassador to Uganda will support Saemaul Project.”
