SO, Jin Kwang, the president of Korea Saemaul Undong Center, had a meeting with Bornito de Sousa Baltazat Diogo, the Minister for Ministry of Territorial Administration in Angola, and his fellow-workers on last 23th.

SO, Jin Kwang, the president of Korea Saemaul Undong Center, explained, “That is a very important question. I want to answer your first question through Burundi’s example. The Burundi government has supported cement and some iron bars to all villages by applying Saemaul Undong approach and has encouraged them to do something with these materials. Also, you may want to create a new village and then make villagers move to a new one.” 

“As for your second question, it’s crucial for villagers to elect village leaders on their own. The early Saemaul Training was held for 2 weeks and it focused on mind-set, attitude and behavior change. In addition, it contained leadership training on how to persuade villagers. The Korean government encouraged competition in good faith by implementing preferential support for outstanding villages through evaluating villages all over the country,” the president also added.

He, especially, emphasized, “We created Saemaul Undong Global League(SGL) and thirty two countries have joined this League. I expect fifty countries will join the League next year and more than eighty countries will join SGL in the future,” he added, “Today Saemaul Undong meets the requirements for a paradigm of the 21st century community development policy. It made operating systems in various fields of society more efficient and effective and contributed heavily to the rapid economic growth of Korea.”
