SO, Jin Kwang, the president of Korea Saemaul Undong Center, had a meeting with Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari at the presidential palace in Kathmandu, Nepal on last 21st.

Nepal president Bidhya Devi Bhandari said, “I would like to thank you for taking the time to deliver a special lecture on Saemaul Undong and explain concretely about the principles and implementation methods of Saemaul Undong to many people in Nepal.”

And she added,“It’s important for us to apply Saemaul Undong to Nepal by finding ways which fit us without depending on consistent aid. To do this, the Nepal government will help people to seek solutions by themselves through success cases of Saemaul Undong and work on developing a project such as Saemaul Undong.

She also explained, “We haven’t started project development yet, but we are implementing some projects now. We need nationalization in order to continue them. That’s why we are going to fully support it.”

President SO said, “I delivered a special lecture on Saemaul Undong for the Spread of Autonomous Implementation and Sustainable Development at the Madan Bhandari Memorial Academy in this morning. When I got to know Madan Bhandari, I thought he is a great man.” And he added, “As long as there are foundation and academy like this, I believe Nepal can accomplish development such as Korea.”

Also, he explained, “We founded Saemaul Undong Global League(SGL) this year and shared best practices with 32 member countries in the world. Nepal plays very important roles in this league. I sincerely hope Nepal keep trying to implement Saemaul Undong actively.”
