?Minister LOURENCO, Joao Manuel Goncalves, of Defense in Angola had a meeting with the president SO, Jin Kwang of Korea Saemaul Undong Center at the conference room of the Center on December 21, 2016.

At the meeting with the president SO, the minister LOURENCO, mentioned that "At a simple glance, the national defence and Saemaul Undong have nothing in common, however, I believe they are closely related as poverty could be a direct threat to the national secutiry. The Angola government has put poverty eradication at the top of its agenda, And I believe the success experience of Saemaul Undong has great importance to dealing with this matters; I hope both of us can achieve mutual interests through this meeting."

President SO responded to the Minister, saying "Saemaul Undong is innovation that helps the villagers get out of poverty on their own. In other words, helping people realize their own poverty problems is critical in poverty eradication." And he added at the final remarks that "I would be happy to hear in the near future the success story of Saemaul Undong in Angola, and hope the stories are shared around the world. If it happens, I believe young generations of both countries will be working together hand in hand with Saemaul Undong."
