H.E. Filimone Kau, the Fiji Ambassador to Korea, visited the center and had a meeting with President SO, Jin Kwang. Ph. D. of Korea Saemaul Undong Center on March 21.

At the meeting, Ambassador Filimone said “Fijian government currently supports three villages where villagers have been implementing Saemaul Undong. The government is also planning to hold workshop aimed at high-level government officials and experts in Oceanian countries for revitalizing Saemaul Undong.” He added that “Fiji spurs to modernize itself through Saemaul Undong which is a driving force of Korean modernization and a successful model for community development.”

To this, President SO, in his response, explained that “I was so impressed that villagers and government officials from Fiji who participated in the Saemaul Undong training last year have been implementing Saemaul Undong by themselves for their development by drawing up the action plan.” He added that “We, Korea Saemaul Undong Center will also be dedicated to supporting Saemaul Undong in Fiji through expanding the training curriculum for Fiji participants.”
