President SO, Jin Kwang of Korea Saemaul Undong Center  discussed mutual cooperative plan to revitalize Saemaul Undong in Peru with President Dr. Enrique Florez of Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina in Peru on June 14.

“Saemaul Undong which started in Korea rural areas in 1970 is the successful model for community development recognized by the UN. We, Korea Saemaul Undong Center founded an international networking platform called Saemaul Undong Global League(SGL) to share the success of Saemaul Undong with thirty-three member countries last October. During this visit, I hope universities and research institutes related to community development will join SGL,” commented President SO.

To this, President Dr. Enrique Florez, in his response, explained that “I had taken much interest in effective community development so I’m very glad to meet you and learn about Saemaul Undong.” He added that “I think it will be helpful for revitalizing Saemaul Undong in Peru to share different information of Saemaul Undong since its approach is a really powerful for community development in Peru. Also, I believe this visit of President SO, can be a great help to examine roles of Peru in SGL.”

Meanwhile, in the morning, President SO took lunch with Korean ambassador Jang, Guen Ho to Peru and discussed the effective ways to spread Saemaul Undong in Peru.
