President SO, Jin Kwang of Korea Saemaul Undong Center visited Ministerio de Desarrollo e Inclusi?n social(MIDIS) and learned Tambos Program which has been implementing as a policy for community development since 2012.
 
Director Moscoso Flores of Tambos Program explained that “Recently, the Peru government has been promoting policies for community development applying a concept of governance based on mutual communication and trust  among the interested parties.”
Next, President SO delivered a special lecture, entitled The Evolution of Saemaul Undong. In his lecture, he explained that “Saemaul Undong was started to develop rural areas in 1970 but it had spread to cities, factories, work places, and schools as a nationwide project since 1974. In addition, social capital accumulated through Saemaul Undong approach made a large contribution toward growing inclusive Korean society.” He added that “I sincerely hope success cases of Peru which take all the good points of both Tambos Program and Saemaul Undong  will be shared around the world by joining SGL which was founded last year.”
 
Vice-Minister Maria Eugenia Mujica San Martin of MIDIS  said “If we strengthen cooperation with Korea Saemaul Undong Center, Saemaul Undong will greatly contribute to improving the quality of life of the poor in rural areas and develop communities in Peru.”
 
Meanwhile, President SO also delivered on a special lecture, entitled Global Saemaul Undong at Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina with the participation of fifty people including students who are majoring in  agriculture and economics, and government officials from education ministry.
