President SO, Jin Kwang of Korea Saemaul Undong Center delivered a special lecture, entitled Evolution of Saemaul Undong in front of forty agricultural government officials, visiting the northern part center of Research Service for Agriculture and Rural Affairs in Dominican Republic on June 26.

In the lecture, President SO said “I think Dominican Republic can contribute to global common prosperity if all interested parties participate in decision making, recognize their joint problems and solve them like as Saemaul Undong approach.”

Head Dr. Pedro Ant. Nunez Ramos of the center referred “Saemaul Undong started in rural areas and then began to spread everywhere including cities, work places, and factories. So Saemaul Undong could affect Korean economic development as its motive power.” He added “If success cases of Saemaul Undong give villagers hope and vision, they will show boundless potentials since Dominican Republic has abundant resources and high potential.”

Meanwhile, President SO visited the office of Korea Program on International Agriculture(KOPIA) which has been implementing seed development and its distribution for growing seeds which are appropriate for local soil and climate condition. He had a time to learn process of seed development such as carrot, beet, perilla, and watermelon and look around its facilities with manager Choi, Joo Hyun early in the day.
