President SO, Jin Kwang of Korea Saemaul Undong Center had a meeting with Ambassador Kim, Byeong Yeon to discuss on how to promote Saemaul Undong in Dominican Republic, visiting the Korean embassy to Dominican Republic on June 26.

Ambassador Kim, Byeong Yeon said “Dominican Republic has high potential. Its government officials and politicians  consider Korea as a important partner.” He added “As Dominican Republic has a good environment to apply Saemaul Undong, I hope Dominican Republic successfully implement Saemaul Undong through mutual cooperation among KOICA, KOPIA, and Latin America Association.”

To this, President SO, responded “Saemaul Undong which started as a policy for rural area development in 1970 began to spread everywhere including cities, factories, and work places. So Saemaul Undong played a role as the engine of Korean development. I request for your support and cooperation for successful implementation in Dominican Republic.”
