Korea Saemaul Undong Center held the Saemaul Undong Global League(SGL) Seminar for Oceanian Member Countries at the Novotel Suva Lami Bay Convention Center, Fiji on last 24.

This seminar was organized to discuss effective ways about Saemaul Undong for inclusive growth by building global value chain. Also it was made to spread global Saemaul Undong and activate Saemaul Undong Global League in Oceania.

120 people including government officials, Saemaul Undong leaders, professors, and students from Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, and Kiribati participated in the seminar.

President SO, Jin Kwang of Korea Saemaul Undong Center delivered a keynote speech entitled “The Evolution of Saemaul Undong in Korea” in the seminar. President SO, in his speech, said “Saemaul Undong(SMU) is constantly morphing itself to adjust to any given situation and time, and is still evolving. As the 21st Century unfolded with its new ethos emphasizing international development cooperation, SMU formed yet a new community, global SMU community around the world, and is contributing to the equality of global citizenry while trying to renovate the international development cooperation sector toward a sustainable human civilization.

Also, he added “The spirit of diligence, self-help, and cooperation is not something confined to SMU in Korea, but a universal virtue that will help mankind materialize its desire and equitable rights. So, SMU approach, based on the spirit of diligence, self-help, and cooperation, is a ‘new development paradigm’ that is applicable to any situation in the world even in the 21st Century.”
