President SO, Jin Kwang of Korea Saemaul Undong Center had a meeting with Governor Peter Numu of Eastern Highland Provinces(EHP) of Papua New Guinea to share motivation, procedures, and outcomes of Saemaul Undong(SMU) and to discuss how to activate SMU in EHP, visiting the local government office on August 29.

Mr. Peter Numu said “Western powers still have been plundering many lands and resources in Papua New Guinea(PNG) since it has beautiful nature and abundant underground resources. They are pretending to support us, putting on a mask.” He added that “I agree strongly that Saemaul Undong approach including its economic and social innovation measures would become the development model for PNG. Also, it must be started from the agricultural sector.

To this, President SO, in his response, explained that “I hope PNG would play a key role for global prosperity on the international stage by sharing Saemaul Undong which is the successful community development model.” He added that “Also, I’m looking forward to the pivotal role of PNG in Saemaul Undong Global League launched on October last year.”
