While attending Global Saemaul Leadership Forum 2017, President SO, Jin Kwang of Korea Saemaul Undong Center had a meeting with high-level officials from different developing countries on October 17. 

First of all, President SO discussed the effective ways to expand Saemaul Undong with President H.E. Reverien NDIKURIYO of the senate of the Republic of Burundi.

President H.E. Reverien NDIKURIYO said “Burundi government is implementing Saemaul Undong as the national policy of Burundi by strengthening cooperation with Burundi Saemaul Undong Center.” He added that “I believe that Saemaul Undong can be widely recognized as the best practice of rural development and poverty eradication with strengthening capability of villagers.”

To his, President SO, in his response, explained that “I sincerely hope Burundi will make various success cases of Saemaul Undong. If if happens, people around the world will visit Burundi to benchmark the cases of Burundi. Also, younger generations between Korea and Burundi will cooperate with each other to help other developing countries.”

President SO also had a meeting with Director General Mr. Luis Fernando Acosta Moreta for Development Cooperation of Dominican Republic and Minister Butime Tom of Local Government of Uganda.
