Head Chung, Chae Gun of UN Project Office on Governance, UNPOG visited Korea Saemaul Undong Center (KSC) to discuss development strategies of Saemaul Undong with President Chung, Sung Heon on June 12.

Head Chung, Chae Gun said “I began my public career as a officer of Saemaul Undong department in 1983. When I was a vice minister of Ministry of the Interior and Safety in 2014, we organized first Global Saemaul Leadership Forum to unify approximately sixty thousand trainees who participated in the Saemaul Undong training.”He added “I would like to cooperate with KSC in the future for sustainable development of North Korea which needs experiences of Saemaul Undong most.” 

To this, President Chung, in his response, said “It’s important to make North Korea sustainable society by helping them with continuous implementation of domestic Saemaul Undong. In line with this, we have to think about what they need the most. For example, North Koreans currently suffer from iodine deficiency so we need to draw up practical support plan to solve their disease.”
