‘The Commemorative Ceremony for the 11th Anniversary of Saemaul Day’, organized by Korea Saemaul Undong Center (President Yum, Hong Chul) and hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (Minister Jeon Hae-cheol), was held in the grand auditorium of Korea Saemaul Undong Center at 11 am on Thursday, April 22nd.

The 11th Saemaul Day commemorative ceremony was prepared to inherit and develop the spirit of diligence, self-help, and cooperation in a modern sense, and to share the future values of Saemaul Undong, which creates solidarity and cooperation for overcoming climate crisis and a community that lives well together.?

&39Saemaul Day&39 commemorative ceremony began with the Saemaul Merit Government’s commendation and a speech of congratulatory for contributors to Saemaul Undong, followed by a commemorative speech from Korea Saemaul Undong Center President Yum, Hong Chul, Minister of Ministry of the Interior and Safety Jeon Hae-cheol, and Honduras Ambassador in Korea H.E. Virgilio Paredes Trapero. Then continued performance of reading the declaration and it was broadcast live nationwide through the YouTube channel.?

President Yum, Hong Chul said “We will do our best to publicize that Saemaul Undong is still alive by practicing Life Movement in response to the climate crisis, Peace Movement for mutual prosperity and solidarity, Community Movement to create a good village with neighbors, and Global Saemaul Undong for shared prosperity in the global village.”

Minister Joen Hae-choel said “Saemaul Undong has been pursuing changes and innovation in accordance with the spirit of diligence, self-help, and cooperation. So we will generously support Saemaul Undong&39s new direction and strategies for overcoming climate crisis.”

Honduras Ambassador in Korea H.E. Virgilio Paredes Trapero said “I am grateful to Korea for providing support for the successful development of Saemaul Undong in the Honduras. Honduras will continue to learn and endeavor through Saemaul Undong, and we sincerely congratulate the 11th Saemaul Day.”

“Saemaul Day” was established as a national anniversary in 2011 in order to continuously promote Saemaul Undong and expand public sympathy and participation, and this year marks its 11th.?

Korea Saemaul Undong Center decided to do its best to lead the transition to a carbon-neutral society with 2 million Saemaul members, and to create a “living well together” community through a commemorative of Saemaul Day.?
