Korea Saemaul Undong Center(President KWAK, Daehoon) carried out monitoring for 2022 Timor-Leste Global Saemaul Undong Model Village Project from January 12th to 19th, 2023.
Timor-Leste monitoring team toured 3 pilot villages and evaluated the performance of their projects. On the other hand, they visited the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Timor-Leste and met the Director General and the vice Minister of Ministry of State Administration to identify the current status of Saemaul Undong in Timor-Leste and requested interest and cooperation in promoting the Project. In particular, the Timor-Leste government shared the details of Timor-Leste's PMOHA project, a policy modeled after Saemaul Undong, and requested continued interest from Korea Saemaul Undong Center.
Timor-Leste is operating a total of 4 pilot villages, but this time, the monitoring team was able to visit only 3 villages due to bad weather conditions.
In 2022, Timor-Leste’s Saemaul Project carried out several projects such as fencing around the village and water supply installation for environmental improvement and greenhouse project, purchasing tractor, piggery for income increasing.
Timor-Leste was selected for Global Saemaul Undong Model Village Project in 2021 and will promote the Project for 5 years until 2025.
