‘2022 Fiji Saemaul Undong Workshop’ was held at the Hotel in Suva, Fiji, on February 27(Monday) in the presence of Park Youngkyu, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Fiji, and Sakiasi Raisevu Ditoka, Minister for Rural & Maritime Development and Disaster Management.
On this day, state officials and the 80 villagers from three Saemaul Undong pilot villges(Mau, Silana, and Naimasimasi) attended the workshop and presented the cases of Saemaul Undong projects by village sharing the achievements with the new government minister.
At the workshop, Minister Sakiasi Ditoka acknowledged that the ‘Saemaul Undong’ is not only an effective community development model, but also a project that cope with various challenges in rural areas in a sustainable way and develop them, and said he would help Fiji Saemaul Undong succeed.
Ambassador Park Young-kyu said since the new Korean government is further strengthening relations with Fiji and other Pacific Island Countries that it is expected the cooperation and partnership between Korea and Pacific islands to further enhance as the first Korea-Pacific islands summit is to be held in May.
