Korea Saemaul Undong Center (President Kwak Daehoon) held ‘2023 Saemaul Undong Training for Laos’ from April 3rd(Mon) to 12th (Wed) to promote the sustainable Global Saemaul Undong. 

​While Laos has been promoting Saemaul Undong Model Village Projects in 4 pilot villages since 2020, a total of 20 people, including 4 Lao public officials and 16 Saemaul leaders from 4 pilot villages, attended this training.​

This Saemaul Undong Training for Laos was prepared to help localize Saemaul Undong in Laos by enhancing understanding of Saemaul Undong and sharing best practices of Saemaul Undong.

​Through this training course, the trainees had a meaningful time to strengthen their competencies through success factors and implementation strategies of Saemaul Undong, sharing success stories, establishing action plans, and field trips for sustainable Saemaul Undong and localization in Laos.​

At the presentation of his training impressions at the graduation ceremony held on the 12th, Laos trainee Houmphone Philabounkhoun, said, “Through this training, I learned about Korea’s Saemaul Undong through various lectures and field trips. I will try to develop my village and Laos.” Also, another trainee, Daovone Sisouvanh, said that she realized the spirit of “you can do it” by seeing the various problem-solving methods that took place during this training. She said that she was touched by the warm heart and meticulous care from Korean people besides the training curriculum and she would try to develop her village when she returned to Laos.

Kwak Daehoon, the president of Korea Saemaul Undong Center, requested, “I hope that this training paves the way to set the right goal and direction for Laos Saemaul Undong making a great success story”
