[June 13rd~June 22nd, 2023] 2023 Saemaul Undong Invitational Training for Burundi·Madagascar

Korea Saemaul Undong Center (President Kwak Daehoon) held ‘2023 Saemaul Undong Training for Burundi·Madagascar’ from June 13rd(Tue) to June 22nd(Thrus.) to promote sustainable Global Saemaul Undong. 

Since Burundi just started Saemaul Pilot Village Project this year(2023), this training has an important meaning in understanding Saemaul Undong at its first step for a better life. This training was attended by a total of 12 people, including 7 Burundi civil servants and 5 Saemaul leaders from the 6 pilot villages.

Madagascar is one of SGL member countries. Although there is no Saemaul Pilot Village Project in Madagascar yet, 5 Madagascar civil servants participated in this training to learn about Korea Saemaul Undong and contribute to the regional development of Madagascar.

This Saemaul Undong Training for Burundi·Madagascar was designed to help localize Saemaul Undong in their countries by enhancing understanding and sharing best practices of Saemaul Undong. 

The training offered a valuable opportunity to the trainees to strengthen their competencies through success factors and implementation strategies of Saemaul Undong, sharing success stories, establishing action plans, and field trips for sustainable Saemaul Undong and localization in Burundi and Madagascar.

During the graduation ceremony on June 22nd, Madagascar trainee Nirinasoa Estelle Marie Christophine RABOTOVAO said, “Thanks to this Saemaul Undong Training, I gained the confidence that I can do it, and I had an opportunity to draw a model suitable for the development of Madagascar and I promise to keep continue to develop my country with Saemaul Undong.”

Kwak Daehoon, the president of Korea Saemaul Undong Center, requested, “I hope that this training would further strengthen the determination of Saemaul Undong leaders in Burundi and Madagascar, and serve as an opportunity for the Saemaul Undong to spread throughout two countries, and for this purpose, I hope that they will work with a sense of mission and responsibility.”
