Korea Saemaul Undong Center (President Kwak Daehoon) held ‘2023 Saemaul Undong Training for Dominican Republic’ from July 18th(Tue) to July 27th(Thrus.) to promote sustainable Global Saemaul Undong.
Dominican Republic was designated as Saemaul Model Village Project country in 2022 and is celebrating the second year of the project this year. 4 Saemaul pilot villages are Hato Mayor, Los Cacao, Sabana Larga Ocoa, Sabana Mula. In particular, this training was attended by 7 government officials, including 2 province governors of Hato Mayor Province and San Jose de Ocoa Province, and 2 municipal mayors of Los Cacao City and Savannah Larga Ocoa City with great interest in Saemaul Undong of the local and central governments of Dominican Republic.
This Saemaul Undong Training for Dominican Republic was designed to help localize Saemaul Undong by enhancing understanding and sharing best practices of Korea Saemaul Undong.
The training offered a valuable opportunity to the trainees to strengthen their competencies through success factors and implementation strategies of Saemaul Undong, sharing success stories, establishing action plans, and field trips for sustainable Saemaul Undong and localization in Dominican Republic.
During the graduation ceremony on July 27th, trainee Josefa O Liva CASTILLO DE PERALTA conveyed her firm determination and promise for the successful implementation of Saemaul Undong project currently underway in Dominican Republic, and said, “From the Dominican central government to the local governments, we will make ceaseless efforts with the spirit of diligence, self-help, and cooperation of Korea Saemaul Undong.”
Kwak Daehoon, the president of Korea Saemaul Undong Center, encouraged the trainees at the opening ceremony saying, “Through this training, I hope this training will serve as an opportunity to contribute to the successful implementation of Saemaul Undong Model Village Project and national development in Dominican Republic by learning the best practices of Saemaul Undong, which became the cornersone of Korea’s economic success.”
