On August 1st (Tuesday), a delightful guest visited Korea Saemaul Undong Center, none other than the Ukrainian youth dance team 'Muriya.'
'Muriya,' meaning 'dream' in Ukrainian, also bears the name of the largest transport plane in the world, tragically shot down by Russian forces during the recent conflict.
As part of the Ukrainian charitable foundation dedicated to supporting those who suffered during the war, the dance team visited Korea to participate in the World Cultural Dance Festival 2023 at the National Jeonbuk Cultural Center in July.
Their goal in participating was to showcase Ukrainian culture on the international stage and bring global awareness to the current situation in Ukraine. Last year, Muriya Dance Team received an award at the World Cultural Dance Festival, demonstrating their strong spirit.
During their visit to the center, the 32 Ukrainian youth learned about domestic and international Saemaul projects, explored the Saemaul History Museum, and examined success stories of Saemaul Undong in South Korea. They expressed their impressions, stating that participation in Saemaul Undong could be a crucial step toward the rejuvenation and development of Ukraine, believing that the Saemaul spirit would greatly contribute to fostering leadership among Ukrainian youth.
